Does a county court claim affect ILR application?

Post by claudiafan » Thu Nov 06, 2008 1:50 pm

Hi everybody,

Does anyone know if a county court claim will affect ILR application?

I asked CAB(Citizen Advice Bureau) and was confirmed that as long as it is not a criminal offence, there should be nothing to worry about.

Apparently county court does not deal with criminal offenses but i am not 100% convinced that it will not affect my ILR application even CAB assured me that i will be fine.

Can anyone share any experiences and ideas here for me pls?[/b]

It shouldn't be a problem, but you do need to declare it.

I really don't mind to declare it. But will it give them a chance to pick it up on my application for not having a good character and then i will get screwed? Maybe i am paranoid!

Was it just a CCJ? If so you need not worry about it. If it was for something else then it very much depends on what the court order stated.

Or drink drive conviction - non custodial, fine and 15 month ban? Does that effect either ILR ?
