Hi All,

I am planning to apply for visitor visa for my parents for them to visit in May and looking for help with the following questions.

1. How long does it take these days. Is it too late to apply now for visit in May? Application location will be Chennai, India.
2. If I apply for a six months visa, will I get a start date from intended travel date I.e May if I request it, or will it be from the day via was stamped?
3. I don’t find an option to make a joint application for my father and mother. Should I make two separate applications and upload the documents twice?

Hello, to answer your questions:

• It is now taking between 6-8 weeks to get the decision. The home office has updated its timeline on the website.

• I think it is from the day of intended travel you mentioned on the application.

• Yes, you need to make 2 separate applications and there is an option to provide the passport number of the applicant's spouse if they are traveling together. That's how your application will be linked.

This can come from the date of visa being granted. You need to state it clearly in additional information section or in a cover note to state when you want the start date to be. Endeavour to ensure application is only made within 3months of intended date of travel.
3. I don’t find an option to make a joint application for my father and mother. Should I make two separate applications and upload the documents twice?
