Skilled worker visa on fixed contract

I had three questions. I am currently on tier 4 general student visa in my last year of Ph.D. My current BRP expires in January 2023. I recently got a job offer for one year (fixed-term contract) who is willing to sponsor me. Here are my questions. The job is expected to start in March 2022. Right now, it is the 20th of February.
1) How long does it take to switch from tier 4 general student visa to skilled worker visa from inside the UK?
2) What will the new end date of my BRP be? will it just be extended by one year? Will I get time after the BRP to search for another job?
3) I have my wife who is right now on a tier 4 dependent visa, will I need to switch her visa as well? Her visa also expires on January 2023. Is it still valid as a visa or does her visa need to get changed as well once my visa changes?

1. Can be days or weeks, depending on how soon the employer can issue you the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) and if you use priority for visa application.
2. The expiry will be 14 days after the work end date shown on your CoS.
3. Her visa will be still valid until expiry, when she will need to switch to your skilled worker dependant.
