Naturalisation online application - English Language Requirement

Post by suhas.chatekar » Wed Apr 27, 2022 10:03 pm

I am filling in the online application for Naturalisation (myself, wife and child).

I and wife had taken the SELT B1 Test to meet the English language requirement at the time of our ILR application. In the naturalisation online form, I specified the same, however, I am still being asked about my degree certificate and whether it meets English language requirements. The document checklist is also suggesting me to submit my degree certificate and no mention of the English Test certificate in the checklist. Not sure if I checked something wrong in the application.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

There should be an option to tick referring to English provided for ILR - you should tick that.
You then don;'t need to refer to your degree.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

There is a section that asks

Do you have a previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain where you had to prove your knowledge of English?

I say "Yes" to this question

There is a further question

Did you meet the knowledge of English requirement as part of an indefinite leave application made on or after 28 October 2013?

To which I say "Yes" again and it still asks me about my degree and whether it was taught in English. And in the document list there is mention of my degree certificate but no mention of English Test certificate which I used for my ILR

I believe as you are relying on the English proof for a prior application you can just say "no" to the degree question - it's not an issue as you are not relying on your degree.

This did the trick.

If anyone is struggling with this, select "No" for the below question

Do you have a degree that was taught in English?
