Baby birth Due June 2009

Hi,
I am on HSMP and my extension is due on Oct 2009.
My baby due june 2009. So there is four months gap before my visa extension. Do i have to apply for HSMP dependent before submitting for extension for baby, or can i apply directly for baby on sept 2009.
experts advice required...

If not travelling, then the baby may wait to apply at the same time (Section 4a - Children born in the United Kingdom who are not British Citizens, Annex P - General guidance).
