Proof of English and passport requirements for dual nationality holders (Taiwan+USA)

Post by epingchris » Wed Jun 29, 2022 12:28 pm

Hello all,

I am applying for a Skilled Worker visa for an upcoming postdoc job in Cambridge. I am applying from France, and have already submitted the application form online, paid the fees and made an appointment with the visa application center in Paris (next Monday).

As I hold dual nationalities (Taiwanese and American), there is this item on my checklist of supporting documents to upload:
"The United States of America passport, identity card or official letter for xxxxx to prove the level of English language required"

Does it mean that I *have* to upload the US passport since I own one, or does it just have to be anything that proves my level of English language, such as an IELTS test report form (which I also have)?

The thing is that the Taiwanese passport is the one I primarily use (and the nationality I made the application with), and I currently can't find my US passport (even though I do have the photocopy). I'm afraid if I upload the US passport photocopy as proof of English level, they will ask me to produce the original on the day of the appointment too.

Or am I supposed to bring the original of the US passport regardless of what I upload? If that is the case, what should I do in case my US passport is really lost? Will a "lost passport report" at the US Department of State page (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel ... tolen.html) prevent me from encountering problems of the visa application?

Thanks in advance and best regards to all
