Post by soyerlife » Fri Sep 02, 2022 10:51 pm

Hello everyone.

Just want a simple advice please

I was am overstayed in the UK until

I got married on 18 May2012 to a French national then
Got my 5 years residency on 1 October 2013

Now I want to apply for citizenship and considering the 10 years good character ,specifically (overstaying)
From When home office consider the 10 years ? From my marriage date or from the date they issued residency ?

Thank you

From date of issued residency.

Just being married to an EU citizen doesn't make your stay legal. Applying to legalise your stay and getting it is what makes your stay legal.

I think getting married to a qualified EEA national did make your stay legal.
