UK 10 Year Standard Visitor Visa - second application

Post by BigMo » Fri Mar 17, 2023 5:24 pm

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the summer!

So I have applied for my parents' visit visa under standard visitor route. They have been to the UK once before on a six months visa. I know this is a risky move but I can't see anything in immigration rules that says you cannot apply for 10yr visa after you've had a six months visa only once.

Keen to hear people's experiences (esp if anyone else has done something similar). I am starting to come across cases where individuals have been issued 5yrs visa after a single six months visa.

If you have been refused a 10yrs visa, keen to hear reasons given (other than the usual tests). Or if you applied for a 10yrs visa but received it for a shorter duration (other than an error).

Happy commenting (except for those about to tell me I made a mistake - I guess we will find out ;) )

As rightly observed, it appears there is no rule saying 10yrs can not be applied, however it seems people err on side of caution by making incremental duration application like building trust with HO.
Forum members have reported getting longer term visas for parents.

So to update everyone on this, we did get the 10yrs visa after a single, six months visa application. Not sure if this proves a point as such, but it definitely confirms that there's no rule against getting a 10yrs visa after a single six months visa

There is no rule against it so far all requirements are met. Congratulations.
