I am a student on a 2-year engineering master's which I will complete in a couple of weeks. Last year, I was an intern at a distillery as part of the work-placement module of the course. After the six-month internship, I worked part-time with the same distillery while pursuing the second year of my master's.
Now, I have a full time offer as the maintenance systems coordinator in the same company. It is a 12-month contract, hence I know I must apply for the General Work Permit. The only thing that worries me at the minute is - the job was not advertised, rather it was a role designed for me based on the work I did. Will this be a problem from the perspective of the labour market needs test?
I also know the test can be skipped if the job potentially falls under the critical skills list. As a maintenance systems coordinator, I would work primarily in process and production engineering. Is there a chance my role would fall under the critical skills list?
I would be grateful for any advice offered on this.
