Maintanace fund:How old should be the bank statement.

Post by atul4sap » Sun Jan 04, 2009 8:15 am

Hi

This mail is regarding a crutial issue concerning my Tier-1 (General) Migrant application that I have submitted for me and my dependent (wife) to Kolkata VFS center on 29 December 2008.

As per the information available on the official website for UK visa(http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... ralmigrant) and the information provided by the VFS customer support on phone number, the bank statement required to show the maintainence fund should not be older then 1 month from the date of making application. But the VFS,Kolkata person who was taking the application informed that the bank statement to show the maintainence part should not be older than 7 days. These two information are quiet conflicting and creating a lot of confusion for me.

Kindly let me know if there is something to be done at my end. If required, can I send a new bank statement for the same. If yes, then in how many days. As I have a UK bank account, I need the information at the earliest. If anybody has faced same isssue or have confirmed from British high commission, please let me know asap.

Thanks!

Hi Atul4sap
7 day rule is scrapped since December 08. VFS guys are really ignorant. I have email confirmation from BHC chennai.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Bank statement must show a final balance no older than 1 month prior to the date of application.

The above change was only made relatively recently, Atul, so may have to educate them in the process of making your application! :)

7 day rule

Post by junoonistan » Mon Jan 05, 2009 12:43 am

Hi
As per my info 7 day period was for people applying from outside UK AND 1 month for people applying within UK. But as some one mentioned that the rule has been changed so I cant say much abt that.
