Flying From Schengen to UK (Immigration Passport)

Post by GlassPrisoner79 » Mon Jan 05, 2009 1:24 am

Do you go through immigration when flying from the Schengen zone into London? Say for example, I, as a USA citizen, fly from Rome, Italy, to London. Do I still go through immigration or is it bypassed, like when flying in from Dublin?

There is immigration control in the UK when you arrive from anywhere abroad - the common travel area is the only exception.

The UK isn't one of the Schengen states. You will go through immigration
control on entry.

The Common Travel Area is defined in the Immigration Act 1971 as "the Islands" (comprising the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) and the Republic of Ireland.
Try googling Common Travel Area, you should find more than enough to satisfy your curiosity.
