MOM GRANTED ILR IN 1979,I WAS BORN 5 YRS LATER,AM I BRITISH?

Hi all

My story goes like this,my mother was granted ILR IN 1979 but a year later(1980) she got married and settled abroad for about 20 years,I was born 5 years later to a non-british /settled father but mom had ILR,do i qualify to be british or descent.

Not an area I'm most familiar with, but I believe that ILR is normally lost if you leave the UK for at least 2 years straight.

This means that your mother lost her UK ILR in 1982. Since you were born in 1985, you were not born the child of a person present and settled in the UK, and so you are not British regardless of your place of birth.

I think that's correct. Hopefully JAJ will come on and confirm.
