Dependant application processing time

Hello everybody,

I was silent reader of this forum for sometime this summer after I applied for tier 1 visa (got it in July).
Now I applied for a visa for my wife and son (3 y.o. , does not have his own passport), they are staying in UK with me (I used to have work permit), their visas expired on Dec 31st 2008.
I applied in November, HO office charged processing fee on Nov 12th. This proofs they've got the documents, however there was no letter with refererence number or as a matter of fact nothing at all. I begin to worry, I think I should contact HO, but I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

Documents received OK, it took 2 months
