F1 visa, I-130 in progress

Post by lagzla » Fri Jan 09, 2009 6:28 pm

Hello!

I am on an F1 visa (college junior) in the U.S. My parents are permanent residents in the U.S, so I live with them.

I have an I-130 on file, but it is still in the process (2 years backlog).

My Principal Designated School Official advised me that because I have a pending I-130, I should not apply for either OPT or CPT because these applications could possibly jeopardize my I-130 petition.

I intend to enter the masters program, but because it is rather expensive, I wanted to work full-time in my field for a while.

Does anyone have any advice? Please help. Thank you.
