EUTR3

Post by guy_in_cork » Sat Jan 20, 2024 10:40 pm

Hi all,

I have a Stamp 4 EU FAM. My application was submitted during the pandemic, and as such, it was greatly delayed. I had a temp stamp 4 granted February 2021 and it was de-facto extended by the pandemic immigration permission extension. My full 5 year Stamp 4 EUFAM was granted June 2022 and thus expires in June 2027.

Technically, I will have resided in the State for five years or more as the family member of a citizen of the European Union on February 2026, which is the requirement for this permission, however, I understand immigration offices insist people apply for EUTR3 6 months before the expiration of their Stamp 4 EU Fam, which for me would be January 2027.

So, when do I apply for this permission assuming I would like to receive it asap? February 2026 or January 2027

Does anyone have a similar experience? I'm worried that if I apply in February 2026 my application would be denied simply because there are still more than 6 months left on my Stamp 4 eufam, even though I would by that time already satisfy the 5 year residency requirement. Thanks.

Hi,

Apply for it in February 2026. Your application won't be rejected. They mention 6 months in advance because it takes time for the application to be finalised. Since your Stamp 4 EUFAM will still be valid by then, it will be to your own advantage because you won't need to chase them for temporary stamp 4.
