India X-Visa with Work Authorization

Hello team,

I want to find out the process for applying for an X-Visa (Entry visa) to India with permission to work.

My situation:

• I got a British Passport via Naturalization (previously held an Indian Passport which is not surrendered yet)

• I am getting an attractive job offer from a company based in India.

• If I accept the offer, the company is ready to give me a formal offer letter.

• The joining date is imminent and I do not have time to surrender my Indian Passport/ Renounce Citizenship/ Obtain OCI

• I am planning to apply for OCI from India (after surrendering my passport/ citizenship etc) as I will be required to stay in India for atleast 2 years, after which I might or might not extend my stay.

• Due to the uncertainty, I do not want to get a employment visa to India, as I believe I can not apply for OCI while on an employment visa.

Please help me understand the process to apply for X-visa from the UK. What documents are required and what would be the timelines?

Is it possible to apply for OCI from UK and travel to India on a Tourist Visa? Can I authorize someone in the UK to collect my OCI and deliver it to me securely in India?

This would give me time to settle down in India (find accommodation etc), and start the work as soon as I have my OCI delivered to me in hand?
