Credit Crisis effect on Tier1/HSMP extension rule?

Post by saayinla » Sat Jan 24, 2009 9:52 pm

I think its only fair that the rule should be review for anyone extending their visa by the end of this year etc, due to the credit crunch and I also think the whole tier1/hsmp process should be put on hold temporarily because let face it, there are no jobs out there and people are infact losing their jobs, so I think the Uk government should help people trying to come here by been sincere and just put the whole thing on hold for some time, till things get better, I know a lot of people who are still trying to come into the Uk and are willling to resign from (Certainty)goods jobs to come to (Uncertainty)Uk.
I think its only fair.

Government is already tightening the rules, and skilled migrants are already under pressure.

A new bill is being introduced in the UK, effectively increasing the settlement period upto 8 years.

UK Unemployment has already hit 1.92 million. The recession is likely to continue for another one year.

Over 3 million or about 10% of the workforce expected to be jobless during 2009.

Therefore, it will be unwise for anyone to give up any stable job in the home country with the hope of getting a new job in the UK.

For those who are under points based system like HSMP or Tier 1, whose visa extension depends on remaining in employment, it is very difficult situation indeed. It is unlikely that Government will provide any relief like relaxed extension rules, on the otherhand they may tighten the rules further so that the migrants do not affect the job prospects of the british citizens.
