First British passport

Post by mivkad » Mon Aug 05, 2024 10:54 pm

Hi all

After my naturalisation ceremony, I had planned to apply for my first British passport but realised my current passport is missing in spite of all attempts to find it.

I have applied for a new one as it is a requirement for the British passport but very frustratingly, the earliest appointment for biometrics at my country’s embassy is in several months (January next year).

Any chance at all of getting the British passport without it? Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
Thanks for your input.

Did you report it to the police/your embassy as lost? Does your embassy offer emergency appointments, or do they release them if people cancel?

Note this - I got this text after doing a dummy application

Applicant’s documents
Send the following:

naturalisation or registration certificate
the passport used to enter the UK
any current or expired passports from other countries that haven’t been cancelled
Maybe if you send the police declaration that your passport is lost, along with a piece of paper from the embassy that confirms it is no longer valid, and a cover note to explain the situation, that could be enough?
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
