Salary requirements for SOC2142 formerly 3421 graphic designers

Post by jenny2024 » Sat Aug 10, 2024 4:11 pm

Dear all,
I am here looking for help.
I have been on tier 2 visa since Jan 2020, and continually working for the same company since then. My job title was on the shortage occupation list so I was on 27.5K salary when I applied for my second skilled worker visa. Now I am confused about the salary requirement when I apply for ILR on Dec 2024, what is the minimum salary I should have when applying?
I have asked several people, but all come with different answers. Please can anyone help?

The Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes assigned to each role have been simply updated from the 2010 codes to the 2020 codes, so your old SOC and the new 2020 SOC both effectively refer to the same role and since 4 April, the new SOC should be considered when calculating salary requirements.

The 'shortage occupation list' is now abolished. People who used to be under the 'shortage occupation list' can only benefit from a lower general threshold reduced to £23,200 but that is not enough on its own as you also need to meet the minimum going rate.

For the going rate, a lower going rate applies as you moved to the skilled worker route before 4 April 2024. For Graphic and multimedia designers, the lower annual going rate is currently set at £25,100 based on a 37.5-hour working week. If you work different weekly hours, you need to pro-rate your salary to a 37.5-hour working week and then compare it with the lower going rate.

I explained it all here: All you need to know about salary calculations under the Skilled Worker route

So when I apply for ILR, my salary should just be above 25100? Or at least £29K, my other problem is that when I applied for my second work visa my cos didn’t state that my occupation is on the shortage list, would this affect my application for ILR?

No. You just need to be paid above £25100. Did you read the advice above at all ?
