Visa extension after 2.5 years

Post by hopeful9 » Sun Sep 01, 2024 9:40 pm

Hi,
I have been asked for help from my brother.
we are bit worried.

His wife needs to extend her visa next year then has to apply for ILR after 5 years.
She has been in the UK from 15th June 2023.
I think other people have had the same issue, its very confusing, when is it best to apply for Visa extension.
If we apply one month before visa expiry is this not too late as the government can take more than 30 days to respond?

Also she passed A1 English for entry into UK. Now does she have to pass A2 English test? will she need to pass B1 English when she gets to applying for ILR after 5 years?

She has passed English in the Life test and we are ok with other elements of the Visa process.

Thank You in advance for any help in clarifying these points.

If UKVI takes a long time, it's fine - as longas there's a pending in-time application, you're okay to stay in the UK.
Just keep in mind she cannot travel before decision is made.

Yes.

Yes. So it might make sense to get B1 straight away.
