Life in UK test computer issue

Post by Isla22 » Fri Oct 11, 2024 1:10 pm

So I went to sit my Life in the UK test this morning and after going through all the security screening, I was told there was an issue with the form and then left alone in the screening room for about 5 minutes before then being told there was an computer issue. The person who was screened before me was rejected for not having a matching ID and then somehow the computer had also rejected me. I confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my ID, but there was nothing they could do because the system had already rejected me.

I was told to leave and book another test and the testing center would refund me for the test. But when I looked online it seems that if your test is cancelled you should apply for a refund through the booking system. This whole process has left me confused and super frustrated since I had to take a day off and spend 2 hours traveling one way for nothing. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?
Thanks!

This is not really an immigration query, it is about an externally managed computer system. You would be better off calling the relevant helpline rather than asking this here.

Forgot to include middle name in application

Post by Isla22 » Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:27 am

Thank you for your previous response, the Life in the UK test center actually contacted me that same day and resolved the issue.

I have since made an application for ILR and when I went to upload my documents after submitting my applications and paying the fee, I realized that I did not include my middle name under given name(s). So my full name only reads first name last name, but my passport includes my middle name.

In searching, it seems that I can include a cover letter detailing the mistake and it should be alright, but it is really stressing me out. What I could not find any information about is if I it will be an issue at my biometrics appointment. Will they take my biometrics even if the name on my application is not exactly identical to my passport?

Thank you!

This is not an issue. UKVI will use your passport and you should not face any issues with your Biometrics
