Advice for Applying British Citizenship

Post by shan1989 » Tue Oct 29, 2024 4:19 pm

I’ve been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) today, after being on a spouse visa for the past five years. My husband wasn’t a British citizen when we married five years ago, but he obtained British citizenship four years ago. Can I apply for British citizenship immediately, or do I need to wait an additional year? If I am eligible, could you please advise on the documents required for submission?

Thank you for your guidance!

You can apply now without waiting if you satisfy all the requirements.
What matters is that your husband was British on the date you gained ILR.
Recommend you review the official AN guidance first before you fill in the online application: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance
