IHS fee for dependent visa more than mine

Post by lbf » Mon Dec 30, 2024 1:28 pm

Hello,

I recently applied to extend my skilled worker visa. On my Certificate of sponsorship (COS), my work start date is 18th January 2025 and my work end date is 17th July 2028 (a period of 3.5 years). My visa application was successful and I was granted a leave to remain until 31st July 2028 (2 weeks added to my end date on my CoS). I paid IHS of £3622.5.

Now, I am applying for my dependents and expecting to pay the same towards IHS for each of them. To my surprise, they asked me to pay £4140 per person which is for 4 years as opposed to my 3.5 years. I understand that the reason is for the two additional weeks added to my granted visa which I did not ask for. On the application, they asked for my own visa end date and that might be what they used to calculate my dependent's IHS fees. Is this okay or should I start a new application for each of my dependents and instead put my work end date in place of my visa end date so that I am not charged for what I did not ask for? Is there any body with similar issue previously and what is the solution? I don't want to pay those exorbitant fees for two additional weeks that I do not need.

Thank you all

What is the expiry date of the dependants visa?

As you pointed out, the system is charging four years as your visa has a validity of 3 years + more than 6 months. Any period of more than 6 months will be charged as the full year.

One thing you can do is wait until close to that expiry date and apply, provided it's within 3 years + 6 months or less.
