ILR validity during naturalisation

Post by AndrewMuzz » Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:55 pm

Hi all

I think I know the answer but worried about a holiday we have booked. My wife has Settlement after applying as a spouse. We have now applied for naturalisation. We have a holiday booked in April.

I doubt we will have time to get approved, attend a ceremony and get a first passport before we fly. We may well get approved as I have seem a lot of timelines recently of a couple of months.

I think that until the citizenship ceremony my wife is not a citizen and would still be here under Indefinite Leave to Remain. As such we should be able to go on holiday and return using her foreign passport and ILR. We can do the rest later.

Am I correct that between naturalisation and ceremony the ILR remains in force and will show as such for evisa purposes?

Thanks.

Until you have attended the ceremony and have received your certificate you are still under ILR immigration rules. Evisa won't be updated before you are British.
