Hello , i want to call my parents for UK visit.
My details:
Own house in UK , having skilled worker and a dependent working wife.
My parents details :
My father retired and having Fixed deposits , gets pension very less.
My mother - house wife
I want my mother to stay minimum 5 months and she will return with me
My father will leave in 2 months max , he will return himself.
Questions:
1) which kind of visa can be applied and is there any price difference between short term visa or long term visa ?
2) How can i ask immigration officer to give 6 months visa for my parents or it is by default ? They are coming for Uk trip and to spend some time my wife.
3) How will the 6 months be calculated ? start date will be 'date of arrival' or 'date of issue of visa' ?
E.g. if i apply in 1 April and visa is approved then they can stay till end of October ?
E.g. If i apply in 1 April and they enter UK in 1st June then they can stay till December ?
Appreciate your help !

You can google that

6 months is the minimum and 10 years maximum
3) How will the 6 months be calculated ? start date will be 'date of arrival' or 'date of issue of visa' ?
Depending on what the ECO approves. So either or.
E.g. if i apply in 1 April and visa is approved then they can stay till end of October ?
6 months precise, not a day more. If it's a 6 months visa, it would be expiring anyways.
E.g. If i apply in 1 April and they enter UK in 1st June then they can stay till December ?

Ticktack thanks for response.
a)My father retired and having Fixed deposits , gets pension very lessWhat does that mean?.
Sk: I mean he is retired and get pension in his bank account from government , and amount he get is very less. Will it matter for visa approval ?
b)I want my mother to stay minimum 5 months and she will return with me Visa would most likely be refused
Sk: Why it can be refused? I will take visa for 6 months.
c) My father will leave in 2 months max , he will return himself. These are long vacs
Sk: sorry i did not get you.

If he's not earning enough back home and you can't show a considerable amount of funds. If they're coming here on holidays and don't have funds to actually holiday, why should they let them in? Look at tourism as a business. If you're going to a country, you're going to spend money (hotels, travel, restaurants), help the local economy boom. If you're not helping, then why are you coming here. It means you're probably coming to suck from the country you intend to go to.

If you tell the ECO that you're coming for 5 months, she most likely wouldn't get the visa. That's not looking like a holiday anymore. It's borderline living here. It being permissible doesn't mean it's widely accepted. "Based on probabilities"

Same as above for a first time visa. Not a good idea for
a vacation.
