Seeking Advice on Spouse Visa Renewal – Financial Requirements and 10-Year Route

Post by Moe2967 » Sat Mar 15, 2025 6:04 am

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my spouse visa renewal situation.

I’m a British citizen, and my wife’s visa is up for renewal in a few months. Unfortunately, things are a bit complicated right now. I recently lost my job, and although I’m actively looking for work, it’s not guaranteed I’ll be able to secure something that meets the £18,600 financial requirement in time for the application. The 6 months of payslips is also a huge issue – with the timing, I just won’t be able to meet that requirement.

On top of that, my wife isn’t working because of health issues, so we’re relying on whatever we can scrape together. We’re trying our best, but we don’t have enough savings or income at the moment to meet the financial requirement.

We meet all the other visa requirements (at least I’m pretty certain we do), but I’m really worried about what will happen if we can’t meet the financial requirement. Should I apply for the FLR(M) or FLR(FP)? And if we can’t meet the requirement, does that mean we automatically go onto the 10-year route? How does that work?

I’m really worried they’ll send her back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I’m unsure about the next steps.
