Earliest Eligibility Date for ILR

Post by chrisrrr » Wed Apr 30, 2025 6:34 pm

Hey there,
I have a similar question on this thread.
I was on a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme), expiring on 24 May 2020 (being Canadian).
I applied for a Tier 2 (Skilled Worker Visa) on 11 May 2020.
On May 18, 2020, I received the following (part of a longer email): As your application was submitted prior to your current grant of leave expiring, your current status within the United Kingdom has been extended by section 3C of the Immigration Act 1971. You do not need to do anything else at this stage and do not need to be concerned about your immigration status..

Tier 2 Application was successful - BRP issue on 17 September 2020, valid until 14 May 2023. I then applied for another 2-year extension. It was again granted on 24 April 2023, valid until 14 October 2025.

The dates are slightly confusing to me, as it was first granted for 2.5 years, then another 2.5 years (ish) I wonder if I can apply in May 2020, or should wait until 28 days before September 2020 (ie. August ish). I could wait until September to be safe, but would ideally prefer to apply before then.

Any help is appreciated... thanks!!

Please refrain from tagging your query on other topics. :!:
I provided extensive advice on that thread, not sure why you thought that advice is not relevant to you.

You are already eligible for ILR given your dates, as you are within 28 days of completing your 5 years, starting from 11 May 2020.
So you can apply now using form SET(O)
