Advice on Child's visa state due to one parent travel

Post by ShreeKrish » Thu May 29, 2025 4:36 pm

Hello there,

Need some advice, considering the following situation.

One parent is on Skilled worker visa, and other parent & child in dependant visa until 2028 Sep (completing 10 years in the UK in 2028).

1) If the dependant visa holding parent travels "now" to base country for an year (returning 2026), will it affect the child's visa status currently?
2) Since this parent overstayed outside UK, I believe his visa cycle will be reset and cannot apply for ILR in 2028. - is it right?
3) Will the child and the parent who completed stay of 10 years still get to apply for ILR? or its not possible?
Thanks in advance.
