Pakistan - Family visa vs visit visa

Post by KM0170 » Thu Jan 22, 2026 4:29 pm

Hi everyone

I am thinking of applying for a NICOP for our 1 and half year old but looks like we might need to update our ID cards to say we are married (they're currently not) and given we want to go to Pakistan in probably 2-3 months time I'm weary this could take a long time.

Therefore I've been looking at visas and seen these 2 types. There is a family visa and a visit visa. Family visa you get 5 years, visit is 3 months. I'm wanting to apply soon to something (whether it's an ID card or visa) in case of issues. The issue with visit visa is if I applied say end of January we don't have definite dates yet so that could run out. The family visa I'm concerned about them questioning our ID cards again if this is something they do.

Can anyone advise please?

Thanks
