Citizenship for my wife and kids

Post by Master999 » Thu Aug 20, 2026 3:53 pm

Hi,

I have got my British citizenship on 1-Aug -2024 after entering UK in May 2011 (T2 ICT route) and getting ILR under 10 years route in Aug 2021.

The my wife (married in 2011) and kids(12 years and 9 years) switched to Family route once I got my ILR in 2021 and now after 2.5 years + 2.5 years they have got their ILRs

Now they need to apply the Citizenship.

May I know what is the category they need to apply?

Will the category they have got the ILRs matter when they apply their Citizenship?

I hears kids will have to apply in a separate route, please let me know which route it is for my wife and kids, Many thanks.

No.

Your wife will need to apply for naturalisation on Form AN, and the children will need to apply to register as British citizens, under Section 3(1) (in the form, the last option - "Other") on Form MN1.

If you use the digital Form AN, after completing your wife's details, it should ask you if anybody else is applying at the same time. If you put in your children's details, it should automatically adapt to Form MN1, and you can fill in the details for them at that point itself.
