Help - Aussie Father needs Visa to rejoin family in Ireland

Post by brendanf82 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 3:26 pm

Hi, I recently returned home to Australia after a year long working holiday in, and have just learnt that my Irish national girlfriend who is living in Ireland is pregnant. I need to get back into the country in the next few months with the ability to work, for a period of at least a year.

I've browsed the website and think that the Stamp 4 sounds pretty good, under Family Reunification. but i'm not really sure how it all works. please if you have any experience with this kind of thing, any info would help.

cheers,
brenz

Unfortunately you would not qualify for the Stamp 4 either under Family Reunification (only applies to family of perm visa holders in ireland) or as a spouse visa as you are not married to your girlfriend.

The only options open to you are Work Permit/Visa if you have the skills to qualify for it.

A work permit, thats now what i'm looking for. What kind of skills qualify, i have a degree in Engineering. The requirements I was told to apply for work permit was to already have a job organised and either myself or my employer applies at a cost of €1000 !! pretty steep prices. I don't want to apply and not be approved.
