work while waiting for Tier 1

Post by lionfly » Tue Apr 28, 2009 2:35 pm

I am on previous Work Permit, and have sent my Tier 1 application, should get Tier 1 Middle of May.

I am now redundant, staying at home, looking for jobs.

If a company decide to take me, can I start work immediately, before receiving Tier 1?

At least I should be allowed to 20 hours/week "supplementary" work?

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

can work full time 38 hours/week? or limited to 20 hours/week?

As I am made redundant by the Work Permit sponsor, is the work from a new company not classified as "supplementary"?

As u applied for Tier 1 unless the decision is not being made u can work full time.

How do you prove to employer that you have right to work in the UK without passport? What will you show as evidence? Employer will need to see passport and evidence of right to work in UK before offer of employment so how do you get employement? Is that not possible only after receiving passport with approval?

To what i am aware of you are not allowed to work in your case.. I mean you were on WP made redundant by the employer (ideally you have 28 days to leave the country or find another employer to sponser t2) and you applied for T1. Its better if you sit at home unless you get positive response of your T1 application.

You can always send UT form to HO explaining your situation.

I am not scaring you...Just check with UKBA before you take up any employement.

The reason i said is one of my ex colleagues was deported in 2005 as he left first company and started working while his HSMP (then) application was under consideration. On the complaint of first employer this action was taken after 28 days of his last day at work.

P.S: This comment is based on experiance and i do not intend to scare any one. Laws might be different now..
