Thanks to everyone involved in this extremely helpful forum. I anxiously awaited my ILR date to arrive. It finally arrived on the 27th May. I went to apply in person at the IND in Croydon.
My background:
I arrived in the UK on a work permit 27 May 2001.
Worked for the same company for 4 years.
Start salary on Work permit £22,000
Salary when applying for ILR £30,000
Never left country for more than 90 days at a time.
Did do some work abroad (was legitamate work for the company)
Procedure:
Arranged for an appointment at IND at 11am
Arrived 10:30am
Gave my reference number (avoided any queuing)
Had my documents validated at the security desks.
Went to the 1st floor to pay £500
Got a receipt, and a ticket with a number on.
Went to 2nd floor to await my number being read out.
They were running late, due to a server error, but my number got called in about 30minutes.
Showed all my documents, and was pleasantly surprised at the speed at which my application was approved. Was told everything was approved, and my passport could be collected in 2hours. Arrived back 2 hours later and was out 15 minutes later, a very very happy person!
Documents carried:
8 months salary slips (only 3 months required)
8 months bank statements (only 3 months required)
Letter from employer
BT Bills, utility bills etc.
Only documents asked for was Bank statements and employment letter and payslips.
Support this site, as I went to the interview very confident, none of the usual nervousness that usually accompanies such a serious application etc. Quite proud of my ILR residency permit in my passport now. Once again to everyone that helped with teir invaluble advice and support.
