Show money for UK Fiance Visa? Quite confusing.

Post by Daniell1918 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 9:56 am

Hello there!

I'm Dan and I just want to clarify something. I have a boyfriend, we've been together for 3 years now. We were classmates in college and now he works in the UK. He's half-British and he has been there since April 2008. He was supposed to come home last March to get married but wasn't able to because of work-related problems so we thought of getting a finace visa instead of the spousal one. We checked the requirement for the fiance visa and we qualify on everything but we were just wondering, is it true that he has to have like a "show money?" I understand that we're not allowed to access public funds once I'm there and that's fine with us 'cause he's got work and a place to stay. He's got a bank account there but does it have to have a huge amount of money in it to be shown to the visa bureau?

I got this from http://www.spammer.com/uk/fiance-visa.aspx

Fiance / Fiancee Visa Requirements -The sponsor and the applicant must intend to get married within a six month period.
-They must have met each other.
-They must intend to live together permanently.
-The applicant must be able to support him/herself, or be supported by their partner, without access to public funds.
-There must be adequate accommodation in place.

We've got no problem with the aforementioned requirements but it doesn't say anything about the "show money." Please help!

Thanks a lot and God bless! :)
