What route to take?

Firstly this is a great board and I apologise if this has already been brought up before.

I a UK citizen married to my Canadian wife. We both live in the UK (London) and we are planning to move to British Columbia is 2 1/2 years.

I am confused to what route to take for immigration. Having her sponsor me seems fine but we both live in the UK so we would both be looking for work when we arrived in Canada. Also if she sponsored me would I be unable to work in Canada for the 3 years she is supposed to support me?.

1. You are eligible to be sponsored by your spouse to immigrate to Canada in the family class category. This requires establishing that your spouse will be returning to settle in Canada at the time of this application - best evidence is job offer although others have used university study, looking after relatives etc. The process takes about 6 months so based on your stats ity may be better to start the application 6 months prior to your intended arrival in BC.

2. You will enter Canada as an immigrant with full employment rights. The sponsorship requirement prevents you from accessing any social security benefits (other than those that are not means tested) for 3 years.

3. This info is based on current info as it exists. Immigration Laws can and do change...2 years is a long time away.
