Family Visit Visa or Tourist Visa..?

Post by jagacharaja » Wed Sep 09, 2009 12:07 am

I will greatly value your feedback to ensure that my family in India fills out the correct visa application form. Below are our circumstances:

I am an Indian national in UK on HSMP visa which is due to expire in mid-October 2009. I score enough points under the Points Based System and hence am eligible to extend my current status to Tier 1 General. I will be sending my Tier 1 General extension application to the Home Office in UK very shortly by post, as I was unable to get an in-person appointment.

I am due to be married to my fiancé who is a UK national, in late November 2009. My parents and sister are based in India and I would love for them to be able to visit me in UK for a few weeks for this occasion.

Can my parents and sister apply for a Family Visitor Visa even though my current HSMP leave is due to expire in October 2009? Please note that as mentioned above I satisfy the points requirement for extension to Tier 1 General and will be sending off my application to the Home Office shortly.

Will the fact that my HSMP is due to expire in October 2009 make my parents and sister ineligible to apply for a Family Visit Visa? Note that my parents and sister plan on submitting their visa applications by the end of this month.

Am I overdoing this by thinking too much or are my concerns legit in your experience/ expertise?
