Can I bring my girl friend from India?

Post by UK_Indian » Sun Sep 20, 2009 9:50 pm

Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am UK Resident and holding my ILR. I haven't got my divorce and the case is still on the court. As you people from india know, it is a long process to get divorce in india (May take upto 4 to 5 years) when both parties are not agreed for divorce. Is it possible to bring my girl friend whom I am going to marry?

Could you advise me?

Cheers

Not unless you have lived together for 2 years in a relationship akin to marriage (in summary).

Thanks for your reply, I am sorry that I couldn't understand your reply. I live in UK and my girl friend is in india, I haven't yet got my divorce in india. Also my wife was here in dependant visa 2 years ago and I just applied my divorce. As far as HO is concerned, I am married and not yet divorced. At this situation, is there anyway (ie. Fiance visa) to bring my girl friend to UK? I haven't yet lived with my girl friend.

Thanks

If she applies for a fiance visa you will have to be free to marry within 6 months, and be able to show that you will. The visa is only for 6 months to enable you both to get married. Your current marriage also needs to have broken down, but as far as I am aware divorce does not need to be finalised.

There is no "girlfriend" visa.
