Born In Pakistan To British Overseas Citizen Mother

Post by shehperpk » Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:54 pm

hi
i was borne in Pakistan (a common wealth country) in 1981 to a British Overseas Citizen mother. my grandparents moved from Pakistan to Kenya in late 1940's. My mother was borne there in 1948 and hence became British Subject. Later my grandparents moved to UK and got their UK nationality. My mother was married to my father in Pakistan and later her status was changed from British Subject to British Overseas Citizen. I want to ask " may i apply for British Citizenship, and if i may; which type of citizenship?" . I am residing in Pakistan for now.
Thanks

I don't think you have any claim to British citizenship.

I think you fall under the category by decent. It was your mother who got the citizenship from British parents without being born in the UK. So unless your mom was born in the UK, you don't have any claim in British citizenship.
