What if I am late ?

My travel date mentioned in COS is November 2. My current company is not allowing me to leave before one month which ends on November 13. My visa is upto December 2 2012 . So if i travel UK after November 13 will I get problem on applying indefinite visa after 5 years? My friend told If I am late for 1 day only I have to extend visa for 2 years more and I can apply for indefinite visa after 7 years only. Is it true ? please clarify me what sort of problem i will get If i am late
