Wife is an EEA citizen, has ILR.How easy to apply for citizen

Post by neas » Fri Nov 13, 2009 11:34 am

Hi all,

Sorry for the long story but here goes:

Recently my wife hit the EEA 5 year limit and we applied (free of charge) to get proof of her exercising her treaty rights and getting permanent ILR residence.

Today we got the proof... but to our shock they haven't sent back some of the supporting documents (WRS cards and WRS certificates + letter from employers stating she worked for them etc)

Luckily we colour photocopied these documents.. but am a bit miffed they 'lost' or didn't send them back when they explicity state they will.

QUESTION 1: Is there any way I can force them to send back the original documents that they aint sent ?

Question 2: My wife is ultimately wanting to apply for citizenship... and is in the process of getting the 'Life in the UK' certificate. My question is... how easy is it for her to apply for citizenship.. now that she has got the 5 year ILR?

Does she still have to send 3 years worth of employer letters (she sent 5 years with the ILR application) which haven't been sent back? Or will the Permanent residence certificate suffice to prove this?

Thanks
