US Citizen married to Dutchie moving back to Holland

Post by mariekepieke » Tue Jan 12, 2010 4:05 pm

Me (the dutchie) and my husband are moving to Holland after having lived here in TX for a few years. We just had our 2nd anniversary. I am leaving in May so i can find a job and my husband will arrive in June.
I have looked at the IND website, but i'd like first hand experiences or someone who can tell me a little more.
Could someone tell me the steps you need to take as a married American in Holland. When he can work, what kind of card he gets, Integration course, etc.

Thanks!

I've PM'd you a link to a website that might be of interest to you. It is both in English and in Dutch, so you should be good to go! Good luck! :)

Do not forget the other Dutch forums like Mixed-Couples and Recht op Gezinshereniging.

If you think you can find the proper job till September your plan is a good one. A proper job is one that brings you at least € 1231 per months and is for at least 12 moths the moment your husband applies for his rp.

If not, come to Belgium or any of the other 26 EU member states besides NL first for about four months. This will save you a lot of trouble and the high € 830 fee for the residence permit.

Besides do keep an eye on the site of your own Wereldomroep where you will find some of my expert tips in Dutch probably this week.
