Question about ILR transfer to New passport

Post by mr_pankaj » Tue Aug 16, 2005 4:14 pm

Dear Friends,

I applied and have recieved new passport booklet as my earlier passport book is finished.

I have the ILR stamp on my old passport.

So I was wondering,
a) What would happen if I do not want to pay for transferring my ILR stamp on new passportand carry both the passports whenever I travel outside UK ?
b) If it is mandatory for me to move the stamps, then how quickly do I have to do that and what is the process for that ?

Will appreciate your advice.

much thanks
Pan

Thank you olisun.

I will continue to carry both the passports with me whenever I travel.

Can I also conclude that this would NOT go against me when I apply for BC early next year ?

Appreciate your help.

Can someone confirm that if indeed you did want to transfer the ILR stamp to the new passport, you need only submit the Form NTL and present and previous passport - AND no further documentation is needed to show residency if it is shown in the passports you were in the UK within the last 2 years (eg last entry stamp is less than 2 years ago).

And the money! (GBP165/GBP500, mail/in person).

What about previous passports (prior to the last two - if, for example, the original ILR stamp was in a prior passport to your new and recently expired passports?)

What is the wait for application in the mail?

If you have difficulty with the mail option, because you are in and out of the country, or can't be in the country for the required 6 week wait, or whatever it is - and you are not concerned about the money - can you do it in person? Do you have to book appointment? Can you use an agent? What is the timescale for in person for this?

Sorry, so many questions, but thanks.
