Marriage Certificate from TN, India

Marriage Certificate from TN, India

Since the new marriage act 2009 came in Nov by the TN goverment, I heard the system is not in place yet anywhere in Tamilnadu, Inida to issue the marriage certificate? Seems for the past month no one has been issued with marriage certificate. I live in UK and getting married in a months time as we all know that my wife would be need this to get her visa sorted. Anyone else come across problem with this?

A marriage registeration query in Tier 1 (General) visas discussion forum. :?

The system seems to be in place. See How to register a marriage?. You can also apply for marriage certificate online once the marriage is registered.

Whether it (system) is functional or not depends on the bureaucracy. But cannot understand why (and how) a new law can restrict registeration of marriages and/or issuance of certificates?

Actually I am on Tier 1 (General) and would be applying for Tier 1 Dependent for my would be wife in a months time after our marriage... thats my excuse posting this under this category :wink: .

Nothing stopping getting married with the new marriage act but getting marriage certificate is what I am talking about. Without that my would be wife wont be able to apply for Tier 1 Dependent, would she?

Apparently its Tamilnadu goverment new marriage act so wont be effecting other states...

I would say that a certificate is a must .. as evidence of marriage for a dependent application.

I cant say anything about the new law but in order to get the dependent visa the marriage certificate is required..
