can we apply for PSW after MBA Top Up

Hi Seniors..

can we apply for PSW(2 yrs work permit) after MBA top Up??

I am askin this as it is in policy that a student can apply for PSW if 'he is writing up a thesis' and MBA top Up ends up with Dissertation(Thesis)..

Are you sure the guidance doesn't say that a person can switch to Tier 1 Post Study Work if they have leave to remain for writing up a thesis (which was a specific category of the rules which has now been superseded).

The question is too general to give an answer to. I do not know who you are refering to, or their circumstances.

If you want to apply for Tier 1 PSW read the guidance. If you have any further questions you will have to post a bit more information.

am askin this because afta MBA top Up(degree is awarded afta 1 yr study by the university confirmin equivalent to bachelors) i would be able to do my MBA..

so i jus want to know if i can apply for PSW afta gettin MBA Top Up degree..i would be able to complete my MBA while workin full time..


and according to website it says...

What category of person should apply?
You should apply if you are a not a national of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland and want to enter or stay in the United Kingdom to work in the post-study worker category.

You should fill in the application form if you are:

in the United Kingdom with permission to stay under the Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme (SEGS), International Graduates Scheme (IGS) or Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme (FT:WISS); or
in the United Kingdom as a student (this includes students, student nurses, students resitting examinations and students writing up a thesis) and want to switch into the post-study worker category.
Go to our visa services website, which you can find on the right of this page, if you are applying from outside the United Kingdom. There you can find out more about the process in the country you are applying from and download the application forms.

If you are a dependant of a main applicant, you should complete the separate dependant application form.

Unless you complete the course (which includes dissertation being graded to a pass level), IMHO, you cannot apply for Tier 1(PSW). Does the policy guidance suggest otherwise??

Students writing thesis are those who have, in the past, been granted leave to enter / remain for that very purpose - write a thesis (e.g. - Ph.D students working on their thesis in the UK).

If still in doubt, read Tier 1 (PSW) policy guidance

MBA top Up ends up with Dissertation

MBA top up, just like any other course with both taught and research (read dissertation) components, ends only when you pass your written exams and when the dissertation has been submitted, assessed and graded to a pass level!!
