What's with all the person insults?

I don't know what's wrong with the forum of late.

Disagreements will happen, which is good because it promotes healthy debate. All too often though, in recent times, this has been leading in to personal insults and/or abuse between users.

Why? I'm not suggesting the forum should be moderated in a "boards.ie" type fashion (far from it), but why do people have to be so downright nasty to one another - and why do they get away with it?

It is totally impossible for Moderators to look at every post, or even to look at posts on a timely basis.

However quite a few members have been banned recently, for a number of reasons, including infringing the T&C, "No use of rude or inappropriate language. One must always treat fellow posters with respect.".

Also a number have been banned for infringing "You may have one member ID here and only one". Some have even been spotted having conversations with themselves!
