Extended holiday abroad - advice needed

Hi

A friend of mine who has a three year student visa until 2012 has been for almost two months in his own country, partly as his young daughter was very ill. He was about to fly back to the UK but then discovered that the visa he needs to leave his own country has expired, and it will take a couple of weeks to apply for and recieve a new one. What we need to know is if he will face problems when he does finally fly back to the UK, as he will have had at that ppoint over two months' holiday from his course.

Any advice greatfully appreciated.
