Tier 2 Visa - Company Gone Bust

Hi. I'm a kiwi who's been in the UK since August 2008. I was sponsored by my company and wife came with me as a dependent. However, the company I work for has signs of going into administration (we haven't been paid for 2.5 months now!).

What are my options? My wife is doing her Masters - she has another 7 months to go. From what I understand, I can only:

• * Find another sponsor
  * Get a student visa for my wife but that requires us to leave the country. Not an option since last minute flights back to NZ are very expensive!
  * Go back home - not an option!

Is it possible to get some kind of temporary visa so my wife can finish her Masters and then we can apply for post-study worker visa.

Not an option since last minute flights back to NZ are very expensive! - You said your wife is already doing her Masters, so I guess you can file an in country application for a student visa, not sure how it can be done so wait for some others to comment on this
  * Go back home - not an option! - Fingers crossed that you don't have to go back home, but looking at this forum you can guess how complicated it is now with these visas/extensions.

Is it possible to get some kind of temporary visa so my wife can finish her Masters and then we can apply for post-study worker visa. - As far as I know there is no provision for temp. visas. But yes, once you are to the stage of applying for a post-study visa you can get back to your dependent status.

My wife is a work-permit dependent, so she is allowed to study for now (until the company shuts down).

I see, just wait for some more members to comment on this. I am not too sure, but I am guessing there must be some way to do this with an in-country application.

Also, whats the deal with leaving the UK to change certain visas? Do I need to return home or can I jump over to France and apply for a visa from there?

Yes, you options would be:

1. Trying to find another Sponser and change the employer

2. If you are eligible for Tier1(G) you can switch from WP to Tier1(G) with in UK provided you qualify for it;
