Can I travel? Pending EEA2 application!

Sent off passports in Dec 09 for EEA2, I may need to travel to Italy in July 2010. I'm South African, husband Irish. Would we be able to travel with Passports, COA, Marriage certificate?
Even though my current student visa has expired?
Do you think they will let me in in Italy?

You might have to wait for your application to be processed. If you insist, they'd return your passport without any VISA . You could travel out but you might not come back in to the UK without a valid permit. You'd have to visit the uk embassy in Italy for a permit to enter the UK and you might not like the stories you could hear from them during your entry permit application. Better wait, july is still far
