having an employer, ready to help you with tier 1 , does not give you a single point so its all irrelevant.

Decide now whether you want to go with employer sponsored visa (tier 2) or tier 1 visa.

Check if you score enough points for tier 1 or tier 2 visa on UKBA website. If you score enough points for both tiers than you should go for tier 1.

tier 2, i'm going to apply through. i've worked for 6 months part time for an employer but they haven't got a licence. i've pssed the calculator test, but the earnngs on pro rata basis since i've only worked part time? will my pay slips be enough to support application or do i need a registered employer?

you need to familiarize yourself with the requirements of tier 2.

your employer MUST be registered.

Must be able to issue you COS

On the COS, it will say how much you will be earning. make sure you find the relevant job title according to the code of practice (a list of jobs) held by UKBA.

You need to go to UKBA site and follow the links thoroughly to find out which job title and salary is relevant to you.

It doesnt matter how much you have earned already(full time or part time) for tier 2.
