hello every body \
i want to inform you that i am a non EU citizen and i am EU family member live in ireland and i have an irish registration card which got it from the GNIB and its valid for one year ,but i heard about the residence card and i dont know if i need to apply for it in case that i have this registration card or not,because in this card i have the stamp 4 and write in there that i am a EU family member ,so what is the point to apply for residence card ? and if i will get it what can this residence card offer for me more than what the registration card offer for me? ,and the last question is that do i can travel to spain with my wife for holiday with my registration card,without applying for spanish visa,,,,,please share your experiance :wink:

I think the registration and residence cards are the same thing. If you've got a card that says '4EUFam', you've got everything you need.

Regarding travelling to Spain on holiday with your EU spouse, in principle, you should just be able to just go as long as you have the 4EUFam card and you're travelling in company of your wife (or to join her), but I've heard horror stories about the ignorance of the Spanish officials, so there is a risk of major hassles and difficulties if you do this.

yeah that is why i am asking if i will need a visa for holiday in spain i know it still too early for that because it gonna be next september but i need to know befor maybe i need to do something early ,but i want you to know that my registration card gonna be experied in 9 of november and the holiday is in 17 to 27 september and i read in one spanish link that i will not need a visa if i have this card and it needs just to be valid for 3 months so in this time when i am gonna travel it gonna be valid just for one month and i knew that the GNIB will not renew my card just 2 weeks befor the normal date in the card so what i need to do ,,,please

As you currently do not hold a Stamp 4 EUFam Residence Card, you cannot (easily) travel without a visa. Legally you can enter Spain (with your spouse) without a visa, so long as you have your marriage certificate, but realistically your problem there is the airline permitting you to fly.

Best bet is to apply for a free Schengen visa now.

When you come back to Ireland from Spain, apply for a Residence Card of a family member of a Union citizen (Stamp 4 EUFam) using form EU1.
